Itinerary

Day 1 Transferred to your cruise ship in Luxor (approx 15 minutes). Dinner onboard boat. Welcome meeting to discuss the week ahead, which will take place either this evening or the following morning, depending on your flight arrival time.

Day 2 This morning will be an early start by coach to the West Bank of the Nile for your first excursion to The Valley of the Kings this will include 3 Tombs (Optional visit to Tomb of Tutanhkhamun is £8 extra). Then there will be a short drive to the Temple of Hatshepsut and then another to the Valley of the Queens, where we visit 1 or 2 Tombs. On route back to the boat we will stop at the Colossi of Memnon for pictures. (This whole morning tour takes approximately 5 hours) On arrival back at the boat, lunch is served and the boat sets sail. The afternoon is spent relaxing on the sundeck while watching the varied local life on the river and its banks. Tea and cakes are served at “Tea-time”. After Dinner, the Manager holds a small cocktail party where the management of the boat are introduced to everyone.

Day 3 Morning visit to the Temple at Edfu. A 5 minute drive on a horse-drawn caleche through the local market leads to this spectacular Temple for a 1 hour tour. Afterwards, there is free time to roam the local Galabiya market where you will be able to prepare for this evening's Galabiya Party on board the boat. During or after lunch we set sail for Aswan which takes approximately 10 hours. The afternoon is spent relaxing on the sundeck while watching the varied local life on the river and its banks. Tea and cakes are served at “Tea-time”.The evening entertainment involves fancy dress where everyone dresses up in Galabiya and head scarves for dinner and the Galabiya games party. Late that night the boat docks in Aswan for 2 nights.

Day 4 Morning visit to the High Dam, the Old Granite Quarries, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae on Philae Island. In the afternoon sail by Felucca to Kitchener Island and its Botanical Gardens. Tonights entertainment will be an Egyptian style 'Treasure Hunt'

Day 5 Today can be spent either at leisure or on optional excursions. The most popular excursion being to the Temple of Abu Simbel, (By coach £55 approx - By Air approx £100.) In the afternoon an optional excursion to a Nubian Village via camel or boat costs £15. In the late afternoon we set sail for Kom Ombo and usually the visit to the Ptolemic Temple takes place that evening. Overnight may be in Kom Ombo or in Edfu. Evening entertainment includes an authentic Nubian dancer.

Day 6 All day sailing downstream from Aswan to Luxor. The day is spent at leisure on board arriving into Luxor by the evening. This evening enjoy a traditional Belly Dancer.

Day 7 The day begins with a morning visit to the Temple of Karnak, the papyrus museum and the traditional perfume shops of Luxor. After lunch, visit the Temple of Luxor after which there is ample opportunity to explore the markets of Luxor for souvenirs and gifts. That evening there is an optional excursion to the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple (approx £13).

Day 8 Leisure time in Luxor prior to your flight or transfer to your next resort. (Usually rooms are organised in a local hotel for use prior to leaving for the airport).

Order of sailing and touring is subject to change locally. It is customary to tip at the end of the week and the expected amount is £3 per person per night.
